hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis is a condition that means you sweat more than usual, even when your body doesn’t need to cool down. It’s normal to sweat when you’re hot, nervous, or exercising, but with hyperhidrosis, your body makes too much sweat for no clear reason. This can happen on your hands, feet, underarms, face, or even your whole body. Sometimes it is caused by a medical problem, but often we don’t know exactly why it happens. It can be treated with topical and oral medications, iontophoresis or with cosmetic procedures like Brella or neurotoxins.
how is hyperhidrosis treated?
Hyperhidrosis can be treated with special antiperspirants, medications, or procedures like these:
- Prescription Antiperspirants: these are more effective than over the counter products
- Oral Medication: counter can reduce sweating body wide
- Toxin (Botox and Others): injection into the scalp, armpits, hands and feet to stop sweating in these areas for up to 6 months
- Iontophoresis:: an at home treatment device the delivers mild electric current to reduce sweating primarily of the hands and feet
